The School of Education at Northwestern State University is seeking an individual for a full-time 12-month position as an Instructor of Health & Kinesiology; Coach, Club Powerlifting. Applicants must hold a master's degree (doctorate preferred) in Public Health, Kinesiology, Sport Management, or related field. Experience teaching courses in health, kinesiology, physical education, coaching, and/or sport required. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level are expected to develop a research agenda related to health and kinesiology. Experience (e.g., as an athlete, coach) with organized powerlifting required.

Master's level candidates are eligible for the level of instructor. Applicants must have an earned Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent doctoral degree to warrant tenure-track appointment at the assistant or associate professor rank. Applicants must have strong interpersonal skills with evidence of effectively communicating with students, faculty, and constituencies.

Preferred qualifications: Experience in teaching in an online environment; experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level; experience with working with student outcomes; experience in a rural setting; established research agenda; and service within the profession. Ph.D., Ed.D., or equivalent doctoral degree preferred. Experience coaching powerlifting.
•Teach 15 hours of undergraduate and/or graduate coursework (both face-to-face and online) during the fall and spring semesters. Summer semester, teach 6 hours.
•Maintain quality programming in terms of expectations for activity, quality instruction, and record keeping.
•Serve as head coach of the NSU Club Powerlifting Team.
•Maintain cooperative relationships with entities related to facilities and equipment.
•Maintain required face-to-face office hours for student access.
•Advise undergraduate students. Participate in and maintain a positive, student-oriented, and caring academic atmosphere.
•Engage in service within the kinesiology community and serve on college and university committees.
•Support the faculty, Department Head, Dean, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and President in the goals of the College and University.
•Participate in official Northwestern State University functions labeled as such by the President or Vice-President
•Participate in scholarly activities appropriate to discipline and position.
•Maintain a collegial relationship with peers and colleagues throughout the University.
•Acknowledge and comply with the mandates of the Constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana, which regulate the activity and employment of state employees, including but not limited to the "Code of Governmental Ethics", "LA R.S. 42.1101 et seq", and "Dual Office Holding and Dual Employment LA R.S. 42.61 et seq".
•Represent the department and Gallaspy College of Education and Human Development professionally in all activities.
