Responsible for providing effective instruction in assigned courses.

*Instructs and guides the courses in the classroom, clinical, and laboratory settings in an efficient and effective manner

* Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance

* Prepares thoroughly for instructional responsibilities

* Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment

* Grades and returns student work in a timely manner

* Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

Selects learning experiences and clinical assignments that facilitate student attainment of course student learning outcomes

Supervises and evaluates student classroom and clinical performance

Obtains and maintains laboratory supplies/safe use of laboratory equipment

Coordinates the use of specific facilities and resources both within and outside the college, as directed

Develops supplemental instructional materials for presentation of theoretical and laboratory content

Acts as academic adviser to assigned curriculum students

Maintains records of each advisee's enrollment, courses taken, courses dropped, grades received and progress toward graduation and submits course substitution forms in a timely manner

Makes recommendation for admission criteria

Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course including test questions which correspond to the course and module learning level.

Participates in simulation activities including prebrief and debrief

Assists with on-going curriculum development, implementation and evaluation

Maintains regular office hours

Stays abreast of most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings

Uses assessment techniques to improve student learning outcomes and teaching methods

Serves on college or department committees as needed

Participates in professional development opportunities annually at minimum

Participates in professional meetings and community service

Assists with establishing goals and objectives for the course, selecting text and constructing a syllabus

Provides the student with opportunity to evaluate teaching effectiveness

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate

Promotes continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for change and collaborating on process improvement

Participates in graduation exercise and pinning ceremony

Requirements:

Master of Science in Nursing

A current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina

Must have two (2) calendar years' prior full time employment, or the equivalent, in clinical nursing practice as a registered nurse

Must meet educational requirements of the NC Board of Nursing within three (3) years of hire

Preferences:

Master of Science in Nursing Education

Teaching experience in a program at or above the level of associate degree nursing

Nursing practice experience in assigned clinical area, maternal / child nursing
