Instructor – Industrial Mechanics for Millwrights and Machinists - 10 Month

Duties and Responsibilities: • Responsible for teaching assigned courses and associated labs in Industrial Mechanics for Millwrights and Machinists in accordance with the college’s workload policy.
• Facilitate instruction, in accordance with the NCCER curriculum, using engaging and hands-on delivery methods.
• Maintain familiarity and adherence to school policy.
• Participate in the assessment and development of student learning outcomes.
• Establish, maintain, and submit accurate student and instructional records in a timely manner.
• Prepare course proposals, curriculum, instructional materials, and evaluation tools.
• Work as part of an instructional team by participating in aviation maintenance course scheduling, and department, division, and college meetings.
• Serve on college committees as assigned.
• Maintain partnerships with local area employers to assist in arranging field experiences for program students.
• Participate in job fairs, recruiting events, and other special events related to the Industrial Mechanics for Millwrights and Machinists program.
• Maintain and recommend needed equipment and supplies.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and accreditation compliance matters.
• Advise students in academic and vocational curricula and career planning.
• Contact and meet with potential new students, feeder sources, and employers.
• Utilize and maintain an advisory committee of stakeholders that are committed to the growth and instructional excellence of the program.
• Develop and provide instruction using comprehensive course outlines, lesson plans, assessments, and training aids that align to the NCCER curriculum.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom and lab environment.
• Maintain professional teacher-to-student interactions that promote a positive learning environment for all students.
• Collect, track, and evaluate graduate data and surveys to obtain information to improve the quality and effectiveness of the program.
• Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings as assigned.
• Attend all commencements and convocations.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
Required Education: High School or equivalent
Required Experience: Five years of related industry or equivalent military experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment with both small and large groups.
• Ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of a student information system and/or knowledge of microcomputer/software applications.
• Proven ability to present a positive image for the college, maintain professional demeanor, provide effective customer service, and make good decisions.
• Must have the physical ability and aptitude to effectively operate various aircraft and associated maintenance and repair equipment and tools.
• Proficiency in the use of standard office equipment and networked personal computers.
• Proficiency in or ability to become proficient in a variety of software, including but not limited to Office 365 apps.
• Skilled at communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and written, at all levels.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical computations needed to complete job tasks.
• Skilled at planning, organizing, and prioritizing job duties to meet deadlines.
• Maintaining interpersonal professional working relationships at all levels – students, peers, and Executives.
• Work tools to include, but not limited to horizontal mill, vertical mill, laths, CNC machinery, drill press, band saw, torque wrench, hand held impact, and other craft related hand tools.
• Frequent (50% or more) sitting, standing, and walking.
• Lift and move items weighing up to twenty [20] pounds, with or without assistance.
• Reach, stoop, kneel, and crouch as required for filing and storage of office supplies and other work-related equipment.
• Personal computer and related equipment.
• Office equipment such as copier and telephone.
• Office environment.
• Read and interpret documents and data which may be in very small print.
• Work daily shifts Monday through Friday with occasional weekends and overtime as required.
• Travel as required as well as work at different campuses or locations as required.
