Insight Global is hiring an Infrastructure Lead to support the onsite and enterprise IT environment for one of our top manufacturing clients. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role, supporting a plant‑based environment with responsibility across Windows systems, virtualization, networking, backup/recovery, and end‑user technologies.


This role is ideal for an experienced infrastructure engineer or senior systems administrator who enjoys being onsite, owning systems end‑to‑end, and serving as a technical go‑to for both the business and junior IT staff.


What You’ll Do (Day‑to‑Day)

  • Own and support the core IT infrastructure for a manufacturing site, including servers, networks, virtualization, and end‑user systems
  • Act as the technical lead and escalation point for infrastructure‑related issues
  • Support and improve backup and disaster recovery processes for Windows and virtual environments
  • Administer and support Microsoft 365, including Microsoft Teams for collaboration and voice/telephony
  • Maintain and enhance Windows‑based environments (servers, desktops, laptops)
  • Support shop floor systems, including production workstations, barcoding equipment, and industrial PCs
  • Provide guidance and technical mentoring to junior infrastructure or help desk team members
  • Partner with corporate and global IT teams to align local infrastructure with enterprise standards
  • Identify and recommend improvements to increase system reliability, security, and performance
  • Ensure compliance with security, data privacy, and regulatory requirements
  • Support IT security initiatives to minimize internal and external risks


Required Experience & Skills (Must‑Haves)

  • 5–10+ years of IT infrastructure or systems engineering experience
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or plant‑based IT environments
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and endpoint support
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware and/or Hyper‑V)
  • Hands‑on experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and troubleshooting


Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with Commvault or other enterprise backup platforms (Veeam, Rubrik, NetBackup, etc.)
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Teams Voice / Telephony / VoIP
  • SCCM or endpoint management tools
  • SQL Server administration
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
  • Terminal services or thin‑client environments
  • OT / IoT exposure in manufacturing environments
  • Cisco switching and wireless infrastructure
  • Relevant certifications (A+, MCSE, VMware, Microsoft, etc.)


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
