ABOUT THE CLIENT
Due to continued growth, we’re supporting a specialist engineering organisation delivering advanced signal and image processing systems into highly secure, mission-critical environments.
The company operates across the full lifecycle from development through to deployment and maintenance, supporting complex programmes where security, reliability, and compliance are non-negotiable.
With increasing programme demand and regulatory requirements, they are expanding their cybersecurity capability to support secure system operations across multiple classified environments.
This is a business where security is embedded into everything they do, working closely with engineering, operations, and leadership to ensure systems remain compliant and protected at all times.
THE ISSO / ISSE ROLE
This is a hands-on cybersecurity role focused on maintaining and strengthening the security posture of classified information systems.
You will work closely with security leadership, engineering teams, and programme stakeholders to ensure systems meet strict accreditation and compliance requirements across DoD and IC environments.
The role combines technical security expertise with governance and compliance responsibilities, supporting both ongoing operations and continuous monitoring activities.
You will play a key role in identifying vulnerabilities, implementing controls, and ensuring systems remain secure across their full lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
• Maintaining the operational security posture across multiple information systems
• Preparing and managing security documentation including SSPs, risk assessments, and A&A packages
• Supporting system accreditation and certification processes
• Conducting system and network security assessments and self-inspections
• Identifying vulnerabilities and implementing remediation actions
• Managing audit logs and ensuring compliance with monitoring requirements
• Tracking and managing POA&Ms across accredited systems
• Supporting continuous monitoring and security control validation
• Collaborating with internal teams and external partners on security best practices
• Supporting policy development alongside security leadership
ISSO / ISSE ESSENTIAL SKILLS
• 4–10+ years’ experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field
• Experience working within DoD or IC environments
• Strong understanding of Risk Management Framework (RMF) and NIST 800-53
• Experience supporting system accreditation and A&A processes
• Familiarity with system and network architectures (LAN/WAN environments)
• Hands-on experience with Windows and Linux systems
• Experience implementing and assessing security controls
• Relevant certification (CISSP, Security+, CCNP Security or similar)
• Active TS/SCI clearance
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with Splunk, Nessus, ACAS, or Security Center
• Familiarity with ICD 503 and related IC policies
• Experience working across multiple classification levels
• Exposure to physical and personnel security processes
• CI Poly (or willingness to obtain)
