Johnston County Department of Social Services has immediate openings for an Income Maintenance Caseworker III - Long Term Care. This position is in the Adult Medicaid Unit which is one of seven units in the Income Maintenance Section.

Interview applicants and determine initial and ongoing Medicaid eligibility for individuals residing in adult care homes or requiring nursing home level of care according to state and federal regulations.
Interpret State and Federal guidelines and determining how they apply to each individual situation
Educate customers to assure they are fully aware of the change reporting requirements
Manage an ongoing caseload by re-determining eligibility and reacting to numerous changes under strict deadlines
Referral of applicants/recipients to other social services programs and community services
Interview and determine, re-determine applicant's and recipient's eligibility for Medicaid in Long Term Care (LTC).
Accepts and processes applications for LTC and SA and backup PLA Medicaid.
Complete program changes as they are received all while utilizing the NC FAST system to manage the applications and caseload.
Perform all functions of an IMC II when covering vacant caseloads
Responds to information from other sources and reports generated by automated matches and other sources to determine the effect on the case.
Assumes responsibility for the resolution of complex problems where the consequence of their action can have a considerable effect on the customer and/or the agency
Thorough knowledge of income maintenance program assigned.
Considerable knowledge of all agency and community programs and services which could affect the client/applicant. General knowledge of all income maintenance programs.
Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of regulations, policies and procedure of varying complexity.
Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
Ability to instruct arid evaluate the work of lower level employees.
Ability to train employees in new and existing rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to understand the needs and problems of clients/applicants.
Ability to perform caseworker function under and within structured time frames.
Two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent people skills, patience and willingness to work with a diverse population
Desired Experience
Three (3) years of experience determining adult Medicaid eligibility

Proficient in NCFAST & strong computer skills
