Import Coordinator (Air & Ocean) | Elk Grove Village, IL | Hybrid work schedule
This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of import operations, from pre-alert to final delivery, while maintaining compliance with customs regulations and company service standards.
The candidate will have strong experience in freight forwarding operations, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Coordinate international import shipments via air and ocean from origin to final delivery
Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transit delays or issues
Review and process shipping documents including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and packing lists
Communicate daily with overseas agents, carriers, customs brokers, and domestic trucking providers
Arrange customs clearance in compliance with U.S. import regulations
Track and update shipment milestones in the company’s operating system
Provide timely updates to clients regarding shipment status and exceptions
Ensure accuracy of data entry and documentation for billing and compliance purposes
Support problem resolution for cargo discrepancies, damages, or delays
Maintain strong customer service standards and build relationships with clients and vendors
Required Qualifications
1-3+ years of experience in freight forwarding or import coordination (air and ocean)
Understanding of international shipping documentation and customs procedures
Familiarity with carrier and airline booking processes
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with freight forwarding systems (TMS, Cargowise, or similar preferred)
Ability to work independently in a hybrid environment
