Job Description

The Warehouse Picker (2nd Shift) plays a key role in a large, quality-focused parts distribution center. You will accurately pick, sort, and pack products ranging from small handheld boxes to heavy machine parts using lifting equipment, prepare pallets for forklift operators, and assist with loading and unloading semi-trailers. This is a fully on-site, contract-to-hire position offering forklift training and strong long-term advancement opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Sort boxes and place them on the correct pick pallet for forklift operators.
  • Pick and pack products of various sizes, from small handheld boxes to thousand-pound machine parts, using appropriate lifting equipment.
  • Use an RF scanner to accurately locate, identify, and track inventory and orders.
  • Load and unload semi-trailers with completed pallets in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Follow established quality and accuracy standards to prevent shipping errors, including mis-shipments to domestic and overseas facilities.
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse team in an inclusive environment focused on quality and attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the warehouse.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures when operating or working around forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Support inventory and general labor tasks as needed within the warehouse distribution environment.
  • Work the full 2nd shift schedule and comply with mandatory overtime requirements, including occasional Saturdays.

Essential Skills

  • 3–6 months of warehouse experience.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs safely and repeatedly as needed.
  • Experience with picking and packing products in a warehouse or distribution setting.
  • Ability to use or quickly learn RF scanners for order picking and inventory tracking.
  • Capability to load and unload trucks or semi-trailers.
  • Comfort working around and eventually operating forklifts and other lifting equipment.
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including mandatory overtime and occasional Saturdays.

Work Environment

This role is fully on-site at a large, open parts distribution center in Davenport, Iowa. The facility handles a wide variety of products and uses forklifts, lifting equipment, and RF scanners in daily operations. The team is made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences, working together in an inclusive environment toward a shared goal of exceptional quality. Performance is measured primarily by adherence to quality and accuracy standards rather than sheer productivity volume, so meticulous attention to detail is essential. The position is on 2nd shift, working Monday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with regular overtime expected until 2:00 a.m. and the expectation of working some Saturdays as needed. The warehouse environment is typical of a large distribution center, with active forklift traffic and material handling throughout the shift.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
