MajorDuties

  • As a Supervisory Geographer/Cartographer within the National Geospatial Technical Operations Center (NGTOC), some of your specific duties will include: Supervises and directs a workforce of Unit Supervisors and geospatial professionals. Provides instructions to Unit Supervisors to manage projects and personnel within the Section including employee counseling, effective performance management, awards, job related training, and coordination. Recommends changes in the structure of the Section for greater operational efficiency, assigning employees to positions within the Section, and shifting personnel in response to changing workloads and priorities. Provides management over the production and maintenance of hydrography data, including project planning, project monitoring, and execution. Performs planning, budgeting, project management, and oversight for numerous production-related projects. Provides on-going tracking of mapping projects and metrics to assess, compare, and monitor performance and production. Identifies and resolves issues in current operational workflows and processes. Plans and implements new operational capabilities including the on-going evolution of systems and procedures and recommends improvements or new technologies and capabilities. Defines policies and procedures for assessing and integrating data from multiple sources. Enforces the use of standard production procedures by Section employees. Coordinates with experts to assure production procedures are consistent with standards and with NGTOC data management systems. Keeps abreast of the latest geospatial trends and developments to identify ways to improve the Section's efficiencies. Serves as the hydrography technical advisor and subject matter expert for The National Map. Coordinates and resolves program problems with National Geospatial Program (NGP) and external partnerships. Coordinates with federal programs, to assure consistency between policies, procedures, and data management to achieve our mission.

Requirements

Key Requirements: Applicants must be U.S. Citizens. Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation. This position requires completion of a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period, if one has not previously been completed.
