Pay Range: $52/hr - $52.14/hour. Employee benefits include, but are not limited to, health insurance (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave (depending on work location).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop robust hardware systems and circuits with built-in compliance to FIRE regulatory requirements.
- Integrate regulatory considerations (safety, EMC/EMI, environmental, reliability) into the hardware design process.
- Design, develop and review schematics, layouts, and BOMs with focus on regulatory compliance, reliability, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with certification and approval agencies such as UL, FM, CSFM, and international regulatory bodies to secure approvals for new products.
- Develop effective compliance and certification strategies.
- Assist in planning and setting up test configurations to meet regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate and support testing activities with approval agencies at external test labs.
- Manage and maintain certification listings for existing products, ensuring continued compliance.
- Provide guidance to cross-functional engineering teams on regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Prepare and maintain technical files, test reports, and compliance documentation.
- Provide support for compliance activities, including performing basic troubleshooting when required.
- Stay updated on changes in regulatory standards and communicate impact to stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively quality and testing teams to support product development activities.
Key Requirements and Technology Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Electrical engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in hardware design and development.
- Strong experience in analog electronics design involving sensors, bipolar and MOSFET transistors, operational amplifiers and a variety of passive components.
- Experience with digital and microcontroller-based hardware design.
- At least 2 years of experience in managing UL certification projects, including end-to-end coordination from submission through final approval.
- Working knowledge of UL standards (e.g., UL 864), certification processes, and product file structures.
- Understanding of product safety testing and failure analysis.
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles and product safety concepts.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Preferred knowledge of commercial fire system components and functionality.
- Preferred awareness of industry standards such as NFPA, NEC, NEMA, FCC, CISPR, EN, or other global regulatory standards.
- Looking for similar to a HW engineer/Regulatory Engineer with 5-10 years of experience, with experience on FIRE regulatory compliance (UL864) and testing activities.
