HVAC Maintenance Technician I (Must be licensed)

Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $30.00–$35.00 per hour
Job Overview
The HVAC Maintenance Technician I is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems in a commercial facilities environment. This role supports daily building operations by ensuring all mechanical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems and components
- Service, operate, and maintain boilers, chillers, and air handling units (AHUs)
- Inspect and maintain pumps, pressurization units, expansion vessels, and HVAC control systems
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues within HVAC equipment
- Conduct routine inspections to ensure system reliability and efficiency
- Support HVAC equipment installations, upgrades, and system improvements
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Active HVAC License (required)
- Valid Driver’s License (required)
- Minimum of 5 years of HVAC experience (post-apprenticeship preferred)
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Commercial HVAC systems
- Boilers and large-scale mechanical equipment
- Air Handling Units (AHUs) and ventilation systems
- HVAC controls, components, and diagnostics
- Experience working in facilities, commercial, or building maintenance environments
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA 608 Certification or equivalent refrigeration certification
- Experience with large chiller systems
- Gas certification and/or boiler experience (oil and gas systems)
- Safety certifications (OSHA or equivalent)
Work Environment
- Commercial or industrial facilities maintenance setting
- Regular interaction with large mechanical and HVAC equipment
- May involve physical activity, including lifting, climbing, and working in mechanical spaces
