Maintenance Technician

1st shift 36 per hour

Job Description

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems, including air handling units, chillers, exhaust systems, and climate control equipment supporting manufacturing and storage areas. Operate, monitor, and maintain boiler and steam systems, including inspections, testing, startups, shutdowns, and responding to alarms or system issues. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical and utility systems to minimize downtime and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment failures and perform repairs on pumps, motors, valves, compressors, piping, and related support equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Document maintenance activities in a CMMS or maintenance log system.
  • Support plant operations during production issues, responding to maintenance calls as needed on 2nd shift.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with OSHA, EPA, and plant safety standards, including lockout/tagout and chemical safety procedures.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards in maintenance and mechanical areas.
  • Collaborate with day shift maintenance and operations teams to ensure smooth shift handoffs.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment, preferably in a chemical, food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or similar regulated industry.
  • Hands-on experience with HVAC systems in an industrial setting (HVAC license strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of boiler and steam systems (boiler license or certification strongly preferred where applicable).
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills; basic electrical knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on 2nd shift with minimal supervision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Comfortable working in a chemical manufacturing environment and wearing required PPE.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $36.00/hr.
