Department Overview
Works under the supervision a Trades/Maintenance Coordinator and with other Facilities Technicians to maintain and improve the Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning systems in the Facilities Healthcare Zone buildings, focused on Vista Pavilion. This includes the routine and preventative maintenance, repair, and upgrade of HVAC systems and control systems, and the associated administrative duties such as ordering parts, setting priorities for service requests, training other employees, and attending meetings related to changes and impacts to the HVAC system. As this is a critical position in the department, presence during all hospital emergencies is expected and required.
Function/Duties of Position
Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school (two-year program) in heating and air-conditioning; and
Two years of full-time experience installing, altering, calibrating, repairing, and maintaining HVAC control systems and performing corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
Two additional years of qualifying experience may be substituted for the two years of education.
Driver’s license valid in the state of Oregon.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience/knowledge working with Siemens and/or Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems.
General knowledge of standard practices, tools, hazards, and safety precautions of mechanical trades and HVAC controls trade.
General knowledge of State and local building code requirements, pneumatic electrical/electronic controls, air balancing, flow measurement devices, and HVAC application software.
Skill in the use of tools, materials and equipment used in the HVAC systems and HVAC control systems trades, ability to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, logic diagrams, schematics, specifications, codes, handbooks, and written operational sequences; skill in locating defects, adjusting, installing, and maintaining HVAC control systems and equipment, the ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions and the ability to fabricate parts.
Additional Details
Normal duties require 40 hours per week. The position does require the ability of the incumbent to be able to respond to on-call assignments, overtime, and after hours or emergency call-backs as needed.
