Job Summary
This position will support the Human Resource department with all of its administrative and other needs. This will include supporting the Chief Human Resources Officer, Human Resources Manager, and Human Resources Generalist with various tasks. This person will need to be a self-starter and have the ability to be flexible and adapt when needed
About Second Harvest
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida is a member of Feeding America – the largest charitable domestic
hunger-relief organization in the United States. Second Harvest Food Bank secures and distributes food and grocery
products to more than 800 feeding partners throughout Central Florida. With the help of food and financial
donors, volunteers and a caring, committed community, the food bank distributes 300,000 meals every day to a seven-county
service area, which includes Brevard, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia. Feeding neighbors

Department Overview
Second Harvest Food Bank’s Human Resources Department supports the needs of employees and managers. We are responsible for Recruitment, Learning and Development, Compensation, Benefits, Labor and Compliance, Employee Wellness, Culture/Employee Engagement, Safety, Employee Relations, and Performance Management. We collaborate with all departments throughout the organization to address all of their unique employee and manager needs. Our goal is to make sure that employees within the organization have a safe and welcoming environment in which to work, learn, develop, and grow, all while driving and delivering the business needs of the organization.
Travel Requirements
Ability to travel as needed within the seven-county service area
Work Hours
Monday – Friday, 8:30 A.M. – 5:00 P.M., Business hours
Job Responsibilities
- Answer inquiries and assist employees with their various needs (FMLA, Work COmp)
- Maintain Human Resources calendar: department meetings, orientation, trainings, performance
- Assist in the maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (Paylocity)
- Monthly audit of benefit deductions
- Employee contact information
- Process Terminations
- Upload documents to employee files
- Support Generalist the recruitment and hiring process
- Attend Job Fairs
- Send invitations for interviews
- Ensure evaluations are completed by interviewing team
- Initiate background and drug screenings and monitor through to completion
- Assist in the training and development process
- Secure rooms for events
- Send email's, communicating with candidates
- Prepare materials as needed
- Lead the setup and execution of onboarding activities
- Send first day instructions; secure rooms and logistics
- Launch onboarding, ensure completion prior to start
- Complete employer tasks, push to payroll
- Ensure all materials are prepared and ready to go for orientation
- Support facilitation for first day activities
- Order supplies for department
- Track all employee birthday and anniversary for milestone recognitions
- Support annual and new hire benefit enrollment
- Lead in the execution of wellness efforts
- Plan events and initiatives for each month
- Track and distribute awards
- Complete basic filing and data entry daily as needed
- Draft and disperse department memos and communications
- Create and distribute employee and student badges
- Assist in department compliance tracking (OHSA, EEOC, OFCCP)
- Support front desk coverage as needed
- Maintain organizational chart
- Complete and disburse the monthly organization newsletter
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in business or equivalent experience
- Minimum of two years of directly related experience
- Experience editing and creating visual presentations using various programs
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
- Awareness of methods for resolving disputes and fostering collaboration.
- A general understanding of project management lifecycles, methodologies, and resource allocation
- A general understanding of practices, regulations, and trends relevant to the department
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines with efficiency
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to support department and client needs
- Flexibility to pivot strategies or workflows based on new priorities or challenges
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to foster strong, collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners
Desired but not required experience
- HRCI or SHRM Professional certification
Physical requirements/environment
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs., with or without assistance
