Akkodis is seeking an HR Business Partner for a 6 Month Contract role with a client located in Orange County, CA (Hybrid).


Pay Range: $55- $60/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.


Location & Work Model:

  • Candidates should ideally be based in Orange County (OC) or nearby areas within Los Angeles County.
  • This is a hybrid role with a flexible structure:
  • Approximately 50% in-office presence
  • Team culture generally follows 4 days/week in office and 1 day remote
  • Store visits are required:
  • Expected 1–2 days per week, though not necessarily every week
  • At minimum, in-store presence every other week
  • Work locations may include:
  • Century City
  • Culver City
  • Sherman Oaks
  • Long Beach
  • San Diego
  • Preference is for candidates based in or near Orange County, with flexibility to travel between office and store locations as needed.

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist / HR Business Partner with a strong background in retail, QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), or food & beverage environments. This role will primarily support store operations by partnering closely with store managers to drive effective people management, employee relations, and HR processes.


Responsibilities:

  • Partner with business leaders to align HR strategies with retail and corporate growth objectives.
  • Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes for corporate and store employees, ensuring a smooth employee experience.
  • Ensure accurate HRIS data management, including new hire data entry and employee records.
  • Lead and coordinate new hire orientation and integration programs.
  • Monitor and enforce completion of mandatory compliance training across all locations.
  • Support employee relations, performance management, and talent development initiatives.

Ensure HR operations comply with U.S. labor laws and company policies.


Qualification

  • 5–10+ years in HR, with strong HRBP or HR generalist background.
  • Experience in retail, F&B, or fast-scaling companies is highly valued.
  • Proven track record working with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong business acumen (understanding operations, not just HR).
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws (especially important for global expansion).
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations (e.g., multiple stores or regions).
  • Experience working with ADP HRIS systems.
  • Familiarity with Workday or similar HR platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.


Clients Notes:

Store-Focused HR Support (70–80%)

  • Act as a trusted HR partner to store managers, providing day-to-day HR guidance and support
  • Regularly visit retail locations to understand business challenges and workforce needs
  • Support and guide managers on:
  • Employee relations issues
  • Disciplinary actions and investigations
  • Performance management and coaching
  • Employee development and engagement
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are consistently applied across stores
  • Assist in resolving workplace concerns in a timely and effective manner

Corporate HR & Administrative Support (20–30%)

  • Manage full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes for both retail and corporate employees
  • Handle HR operations including:
  • New hire onboarding documentation (e.g., I-9 compliance)
  • Employee data entry and maintenance
  • Leave of absence tracking
  • Payroll and benefits coordination
  • Support corporate HR activities (lower volume compared to retail)
  • Maintain accurate employee records and ensure compliance with HR policies.
