PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for leading full-cycle recruiting for the Credit Union’s non-management positions while also performing core HR Generalist duties, including payroll processing, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and other HR operations.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle recruiting for non-management positions: job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, selection support, job offer, and onboarding.
  • Develop and execute effective advertising and sourcing strategies; utilize internet resources, community partners, and career fairs to build candidate pipelines.
  • Conduct phone screens and structured interviews; coordinate interview schedules and candidate communications to ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Initiate and manage background checks and pre-employment requirements; maintain complete recruitment files and documentation.
  • Track recruiting activity and maintain the applicant database/ATS; prepare status updates and basic recruiting metrics as needed.
  • Process payroll-related functions, including, but not limited to: processing new hires, terminations, status changes, wage garnishments, benefits, and miscellaneous changes.
  • Enter payroll data and review and verify payroll data in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the maintenance of payroll records and files, including paid time off and other accrued leave, and respond to routine inquiries.
  • Support onboarding: prepare new hire paperwork, coordinate orientations, benefits training, and ensure completion of all I-9 and personnel file documentation.
  • Maintain all personnel files, medical folders, and I-9 retention in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
  • Provide support for the administration of employee benefits programs (health, dental/vision, disability, life, 401(k), wellness) and assist with annual open enrollment.
  • Assist with leave administration (Including FMLA) by supporting documentation, tracking and recording leave accurately in the time/record-keeping system.
  • Support performance management by notifying managers of upcoming review dates and ensuring required documentation is received for probationary and annual reviews.
  • Assist with employee relations matters and investigations in partnership with the CPO, including coaching managers on documentation and appropriate resolution steps.
  • Supports employee engagement and morale initiatives; contributes ideas and helps implement culture-building activities.
  • Assist with state and federal employment reporting as assigned (EEO-1, Maryland multiple worksite reports) and support internal audits.
  • Stay current on applicable payroll, employment laws, and HR best practices; support policy and procedure updates as needed.
  • Complete required and recommended educational courses; Follow all rules and regulations as applicable to job function, including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in business or Human Resources, required; Bachelor's preferred.
  • Two years or more years of HR and recruiting experience required.
  • SHRM certification, preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to speak in front of large groups.
  • Strong grammar and writing skills.
  • Mandatory attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Able to maintain absolute confidentiality.
  • Intermediate Excel skills (e.g. formulas, graphs, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, with a willingness to contribute ideas and solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills.
