SUMMARY:

Function: The HR Generalist will be responsible for managing daily human resources operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, performance management, and compliance with labor laws.


Scope: This role serves as a key point of contact for employees and supports the HR department in fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of this position require prioritizing and completing all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner, adjusting for changing priorities and availability of resources, and demonstrating initiative in identifying additional job-related tasks to be completed when time permits. The amount of time performing each function may vary day-to-day. All duties shall be performed in an efficient and professional manner in accordance with the company policies and under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor.


1. Coordinate the full-cycle recruitment process, including job postings, screening applicants, conducting interviews, extending offers, and ensuring all hiring documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

2. Stay informed on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, ensuring HR practices align with EEO, ADA, and affirmative action standards. Provide guidance to management and staff to promote a fair and inclusive workplace.

3. Manage employee leave programs, including FMLA, ADA, and workplace accommodations. Ensure compliance, coordinate documentation, and support employees and managers throughout the leave process.

4. Accurately document and update employee records in the HRIS system, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Track employment changes and generate reports for compliance and internal use.

5. Investigate and resolve employee complaints and concerns in a timely and confidential manner. Facilitate conflict resolution, mediate disputes, and ensure a respectful and compliant work environment.

6. Act as a liaison to foster effective communication between staff and leadership. Interpret HR policies and employment agreements and assist in resolving workplace issues to maintain morale and productivity.

7. Provide strategic HR guidance to leadership on policy development and implementation. Recommend updates to policies and procedures to reflect best practices and legal compliance.

8. Conduct market research and internal audits to evaluate compensation structures and benefits offerings. Propose adjustments to attract and retain talent while ensuring alignment with budget and legal standards.

9. Manage complex personnel issues, including performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Support departments in addressing staffing shortages and implementing corrective actions.

10. Prepare documentation and represent the company in legal or regulatory proceedings related to employment matters, such as unemployment claims, EEOC investigations, or labor disputes.

11. Lead HR programs and initiatives such as performance cycles, engagement efforts, policy rollouts, or process improvements to support organizational goals.

12. Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including enrollment, changes, and claims resolution. Serve as a point of contact for employees and vendors regarding benefits inquiries.

13. Handle a variety of administrative duties including maintaining HR files, preparing reports, scheduling meetings, and supporting HR projects to ensure smooth departmental operations.

14. Interpret, distill, and present complicated and/or technical information to employees, customers, and others in understandable and relatable terms to aid and enhance levels of understanding and implementation.

15. Use and operate a computer, office equipment and other technology devices frequently and consistently throughout each day with a high degree of skill, accuracy, and independent judgment for the purpose of reviewing, analyzing, creating, transmitting, and presenting documents, data, and other business-related information.

16. Perform other necessary duties and tasks as requested.


Periodical

Attending annual and/or quarterly refresher courses related to hazardous waste management and handling, general safety, quality management, and environmental management.


SUPERVISION:

Receives: General supervision given by Assistant Manager and above. Completed work is periodically reviewed for accuracy, completeness, and compliance within established guidelines.


Given: Train and support HR Assistant & HR coordinator as needed.

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· Typical years of experience in field of 3-5 years.

· Typically holds bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

· Required certifications include SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Certificate in Human Resource Management, and/or Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

· Skills/Specialties include Administration, Benefits & Compensation, Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, Full-Cycle Recruiting, Employee Relations, Filing, Training, Labor relations, Negotiation, Basic employment and labor laws, and Personnel information systems.

· Proficiency in HRIS systems & MS Office programs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

This position primarily works in a temperature-controlled, sometimes high-pressure office environment. Our office spaces include traditional office lighting (including fluorescent lighting), traditional office furniture, shared office space and restrooms, and facilities that include consistent and frequent noise (often louder than ambient noise), conversations among employees and customers, interruptions, and other similar distractions. Performing work in a typical office environment may also include exposure to ordinary and typical odors, scents, perfumes, and other airborne odors associated with people congregating, working, and sharing space together. JOB RELATED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· Work for extended periods of time in a stationary position (possibly up to 60 minutes or more without an opportunity to substantially change position) while consistently grasping, moving, and manipulating documents, office supplies, computer equipment, and other business tools and materials.

· Move to, from and within our building and across company-related property or field site locations with consistently uneven terrain. Movement to, from and within property locations may occur during inclement weather, extreme temperatures, rain or snow, strong winds, and during low visibility and low light conditions (e.g., evening, early morning, fog, etc.).


OTHER:

Personnel must successfully complete a program of on-site classroom instruction or on-the-job training that teaches them to perform their duties in a way that ensures compliance with all job requirements. Prior experience and/or certification that can be verified will be considered in evaluating training requirements.
