Overview

Chenega’s Strategic Security Business Unit (SSBU) is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated HR Administrator I to support our growing workforce that protects critical federal missions. This role is a great opportunity for someone with approximately one year of experience in Human Resources or Recruiting who is ready to build a strong foundation in HR operations within a fast‑paced, mission‑driven environment.

As an HR Administrator I, you’ll play a vital behind‑the‑scenes role supporting recruiters, HR partners, and leadership, helping ensure our employees are onboarded, supported, and set up for success.

*This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week in our Chantilly, VA office.*

Responsibilities

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Provide administrative support to HR and Recruiting teams, including data entry, document tracking, and records management
  • Assist with onboarding activities such as new hire paperwork, system entries, and file maintenance
  • Support recruiting efforts by coordinating interviews, updating applicant tracking systems, and communicating with candidates as needed
  • Help maintain compliance with company policies, contract requirements, and federal guidelines
  • Respond to basic HR inquiries with professionalism and discretion
  • Support audits, reports, and special HR projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, with 1–2 years of related administrative experience supporting Human Resources or Recruiting.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
  • Comfortable working with HR systems, databases, and Microsoft Office tools
  • Clear communication skills and a customer‑service mindset
  • A proactive team player eager to learn and grow in HR
