Housing and Community Development Department. The Town's
Housing and Community Development Department includes four divisions: Public Housing, Affordable Housing, Community Connections, and Administration, which work collaboratively to execute the Town Council's affordable housing and equitable community engagement goals. Essential Functions:- Completes safety inspections and preventative maintenance of public housing units
- Performs general maintenance of public housing units, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and appliance repairs as permissible
- Uses a work order system to track and prioritize maintenance requests and document completion.
- Provides notice to residents regarding upcoming work.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:- The work requires frequent walking, standing, or stooping, and sitting at a desk or table.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. safely.
Minimum Qualifications:- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid NC Driver's License
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field OR anycombination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the job
Knowledge of:- The operation of a wide range of hand tools and equipment in the electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and plumbing trades
- Practices in Federal, State, and Local building codes and safety regulations preferred
Ability to:- Manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Work independently, as well as effectively as part of a team
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, residents, and other stakeholders
- Serve on the departmental on-call rotation
- Work a flexible schedule, including holidays, weekends, and inclement weather, on an as-needed basis
