JOB TITLE:  

Center for Carbon Capture and Conversion Summer Field Technician

JOB PURPOSE:  

This position in the Center for Carbon Capture and Conversion within the School of Energy Resources has been created to assist the PI in the field for the soil amendment project work. This position requires frequent travel to field work at the various agricultural experiment locations such as Lingle, WY and Gillette, WY over Summer 2026. Plant and soil sample collection, soil amendment materials application in the field, crop/plant growth monitoring, data collection are the primary part of work for this position. Moreover, helping with greenhouse experiments and lab work are also responsibilities for this position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Conduct soil sampling, plant growth measurements, and data collection
  • Frequent travel to the fields for setting up and maintaining experimental plots
  • Assisting with greenhouse experiments
  • Recording and organizing field data accurately
  • Other tasks as assigned

**MUST be willing to travel frequently to field sites, work outdoors in various weather conditions, and be available to work flexible hours as needed**

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Background of coursework in agriculture, soil science, environmental science, or related fields
  • Basic familiarity with data collection and handling
  • Ability to drive to various work locations such as Lingle and Gillette, WY, which requires a valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP. (Employees are not required to drive themselves to the work locations)

WORK LOCATION: 

On-campus: This position provides vital support to campus customers, and the successful candidate must be available to work and perform essential job functions on campus and at various agricultural experiment locations such as Lingle, WY and Gillette, WY understanding our location is at 7,220 feet above sea level.
