Position Title: Hotel Front Office Intern

Department: Front Office / Guest Services

Reports To: Front Office Manager / General Manager



Position Summary

The Front Office Intern at the Princess Bayside Beach Hotel will gain hands-on experience in hotel operations while supporting the daily functions of the front desk. Located on the bayside in Ocean City, this role offers the opportunity to deliver exceptional guest service in a fast-paced, seasonal resort environment.

This position, in partnership with the Coastal Careers Internship Program, offers up to 160 hours of paid, hands-on work experience designed to support career exploration and skill development. Following the internship, the ideal candidate will be able to move into a full-time position with the hotel on a management level track.

This position will work directly alongside the Front Office Manager, providing unique exposure to leadership responsibilities and offering insight into how to effectively manage front desk operations, staff, and guest experiences in a hospitality setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests with a friendly, professional, and welcoming attitude
  • Assist with guest check-in and check-out procedures efficiently and accurately
  • Answer phone calls and respond to guest inquiries regarding reservations, amenities, and local attractions
  • Learn and operate the property management system (PMS) for reservations and guest services
  • Provide information about hotel amenities, including bayside features and nearby attractions
  • Assist in resolving guest concerns and escalate issues to management when necessary
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and lobby environment
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Support daily administrative tasks, reporting, and operational procedures
  • Observe and assist the Front Office Manager with scheduling, guest issue resolution, and team coordination
  • Gain exposure to leadership decision-making and front office management practices
  • Uphold all hotel standards, policies, and guest service expectations

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Hospitality, Business, or related program
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Positive, energetic attitude with a willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, guest-focused, seasonal environment
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office; PMS experience a plus)
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally


Additional Information

This internship provides valuable hands-on experience in a busy beach destination hotel and may be eligible for academic credit. Interns will gain real-world exposure not only to front desk operations, but also to management practices through direct mentorship with the Front Office Manager.
