Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)is recruiting forHospital Cooks* who prepare and cook regular and therapeutic meals in large quantities for patients, staff, and visitors. Duties include using a variety of cooking methods to prepare food items; ensuring meals are prepared and served in a timely manner; monitoring food quality and presentation; recommending menu substitutions; assigning and reviewing the work of food service staff; and maintaining sanitary kitchen conditions in accordance with established health, safety, and departmental standards.

The eligible list will onlybe used to fill vacancies at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.Extra-Help positions are also available. Applicants must indicate a willingness to accept an extra-help position which does not offer benefits but will offer a higher salary.
Extra-help positions are paid at a higher salary and are in the Unclassified Service which serve at the discretion of the appointing authority. These positions participate in the County's Part-time Seasonal Temporary (PST) Deferred Compensation Plan and do not earn any other benefits. Candidates selected for Extra-Help positions are not precluded from being considered for full-time positions and may remain on the eligible list for full-time employment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process:Applicantsmust pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history and education verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.
Physical:This position requires lifting up to 50 lbs., standing, squatting, and reaching.
Certification: A valid Food Handler's card issued by San Bernardino County is required at the time of hire. Please review to learn about obtaining aFood Handler's cardissue by the County of San Bernardino.
Sponsorship: Please note San Bernardino County is not able to consider candidates who will require visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future.
Applicants must meet one of the options listed below:Option 1Considerable experience cooking food for a large number of personsor any equivalent combination of education or experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Option 2Six (6) months of full-time food service experience at Arrowhead Regional Medical Center or any hospital environment.
Option 3
A community college Certificate in Culinary Arts.Please attach acopy of the certificate to your application.
Option 4
One (1) year of full-time experience as a cook in a restaurant or fast-food environment.
