JOIN OUR TEAM AS A HORTICULTURE CREW LEADERThis role involves skilled work under limited supervision, acting as lead worker assisting, supervising and directing an assigned phase of turf, tree and ornamental plant installation.Functions as lead worker and assists in supervising the installation and maintenance of trees, turf, landscaping and related projects and activities. Personally operates and assists with coordinating work of equipment, such as chemical sprayers, verticutters, tree spade, spreaders, tractors, sweepers and related equipment. Provides subordinates with instructions and advice on difficult problems and personally performs those assigned duties when necessary. Follows and instructs subordinates in all safety practices and procedures. Inspects and maintains equipment. Makes general operating decisions and determines most efficient use of equipment and staff in the absence of the Sports Turf Supervisor. Determines chemical application rates and calibrates equipment as required. Maintains detailed operating records and prepares reports. Keeps supervisor and administration informed orally and in writing. Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. Performs related work as required.
- Knowledge and skill in the application, installation and maintenance of tree, plant and turf care techniques.
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, and supplies used in turf care.

PHYSICAL SKILLS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, and squat frequently. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication. Ability to perform work out-of-doors, occasionally under adverse weather conditions. Ability to handle prolonged periods of work while wearing safety equipment (i.e. respirator, spray suit, gloves).
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years' experience in tree, turf and ornamental plant care and/or the application of chemicals utilized in plant disease and control work or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Supervisory experience preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Possession of a Commercial Pesticide Application License preferred.
