Histotechnician / Histotechnologist (HT/HTL-ASCP)


Location: Houston, TX 77030

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 4:00 AM Start

Pay Range: $32 - $38/hr on W2


We are seeking an experienced Histotechnician or Histotechnologist to join a high-volume hospital laboratory. The ideal candidate will have strong routine histology skills with a focus on quality embedding, microtomy, staining, and specimen processing.



Responsibilities:

  • Process, embed, section, stain, and coverslip tissue specimens according to established protocols
  • Perform routine and special stains (AFB, Gram, MSN, Oro, etc.)
  • Operate histology equipment including tissue processors, microtomes, stainers, embedding centers, and cryostats
  • Assist with frozen sections, liver biopsies, fine needle aspirations, and fresh specimen handling
  • Prioritize workload to meet turnaround times while maintaining quality standards
  • Troubleshoot specimen and processing issues as needed


Requirements:

  • HT(ASCP) or HTL(ASCP) certification required
  • Associate degree in Science or Histology
  • Minimum 2 years of paid histology experience required
  • Hospital or reference laboratory experience preferred
  • Experience with special stains, frozen sections, and non-GYN cytology processing is a plus
  • Strong communication skills and working knowledge of laboratory operations
