Histology Lab Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Histology Lab Assistant to join our team. The role involves handling clinical lab specimens, preparing them for testing, and ensuring the efficient functioning of laboratory operations. Responsibilities

• Pull samples out of storage or walk-in fridges and bring them to technicians for retesting.
• Scan samples into the tracking system and manage data entry of specimen and patient information.
• Work with paraffin wax blocks and biopsies.
• Receive and sort clinical lab specimens.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis.
• Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance.
• Troubleshoot any specimen-related issues.
• Replenish test bench supplies as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Complete record logs and perform other administrative duties as requested.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards.

• Experience in a medical or laboratory setting (academic experience is acceptable).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
• Comfortable handling human samples.

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Willingness to work weekends for overtime if needed.

You will work alongside another lab assistant within a team of 21 in the histology lab. The work schedule is from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime on weekends. The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and you will be supported by excellent trainers and leadership. This role offers the chance to transition to a Technologist position with a significant raise if performance standards are met.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Holyoke, MA.

The pay range for this position is $20.75 - $20.75/hr.
