Job Description

NEED TO TRAVEL TO Columbus, OHIO.

This role focuses on installing ductwork and sheet metal on large industrial and commercial projects, including data center and hospital environments. You will work with rooftop units, curb units, and various sizes of ductwork, using your ability to read blueprints and install complete HVAC sheet metal systems safely and efficiently. This position offers consistent full-time hours, opportunities for overtime, and daily per diem for qualified travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and install sheet metal and duct systems according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Install and set rooftop units (RTUs), curb units, louvers, hangers, and associated HVAC sheet metal components.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine accurate locations for curbs, ductwork, sheet metal, and rooftop equipment.
  • Assist with the assembly and installation of HVAC equipment, including ductwork, sheet metal, rooftop units, curbs, louvers, and hangers.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools remain in good working order and perform or coordinate proper and timely maintenance.
  • Follow all OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures at all times while on site.
  • Offload deliveries and load trucks at job sites in a safe and organized manner.
  • Use appropriate hand tools and power tools, such as impacts and drills, to complete installations to a high standard of quality.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and team members to meet project deadlines and maintain a clean, organized work area.

Essential Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience installing louvers, setting rooftop equipment, rigging, and installing ductwork and sheet metal.
  • Proven experience setting curbs, hanging ductwork, installing sheet metal, and setting rooftop units.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to determine placement of curbs, ductwork, sheet metal, and rooftop units.
  • Ability to layout and install sheet metal and duct systems with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • OSHA 10 certification or higher, or the ability to obtain it before starting.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC installation practices and standards.
  • Ability to follow and uphold OSHA safety standards consistently.
  • Ownership and proficient use of essential hand tools, including wrenches, pliers, channel locks, vise grips, impact drill, 9/16" sockets with impact adapter, and screwdrivers.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for travel to job sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Journeyman card is preferred and demonstrates advanced trade proficiency.
  • Experience working on industrial or commercial projects such as data centers and hospitals.
  • Experience with rigging rooftop equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed to meet project timelines.
  • Capacity to travel to different project locations as required.

Work Environment

You will work on two primary projects: a data center in New Albany with a typical schedule of Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with optional Saturday work, and a hospital project in central Columbus with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., eventually shifting to 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The work takes place on active construction sites where you will handle ductwork, sheet metal, rooftop units, and related HVAC components. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, requiring adherence to OSHA standards and the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). You will regularly use hand tools and power tools, work both indoors and outdoors depending on the phase of the project, and collaborate closely with other trades to complete installations on schedule.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
