Are you a detail-oriented professional looking to grow your career in Healthcare Administration? We are seeking an HIM Specialist I to manage the daily validation, reconciliation, and digitization of patient documentation.
As a vital member of the Health Information Management (HIM) team, you will ensure the integrity of the facility’s legal medical records by maintaining high standards of accuracy in chart preparation, scanning, and indexing.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Record Management: Perform chart assembly and validation using the One Content system; conduct loose sheet analysis and follow up on missing Emergency Room documentation.
- Digital Integration: Execute facility and clinic scanning with rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) of images; ensure timely and accurate indexing of all patient information.
- Patient & Provider Support: Process myCare activation requests and validate Advance Care Planning documentation within Epic.
- Release of Information: Validate insurance and payor requests for medical records and process them through the release module.
- Front-Desk Operations: Assist patients in the hospital lobby with record request completions and manage incoming department mail.
- Logistics & Archiving: Prepare medical records and fetal monitor strips for off-site storage using chart tracking software.
- Reporting: Utilize Microsoft Excel to prepare essential productivity reports for department leadership.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and experience operating standard office equipment.
- Detail Orientation: Proven ability to differentiate complex text and numeric sequences with high accuracy.
- Experience: Prior experience in a Health Information Department or healthcare setting is preferred. Knowledge of basic medical terminology is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility: Ability to work alternate shifts or campuses as needed to meet operational requirements.
