Job Title: Helper – Motor and Generator Service Operations

Job Description

Join a growing, high‑tech service operation as a Helper supporting motor and generator repair for the oil and gas industry and modern data centers. In this hands‑on role, you will assist experienced technicians with a variety of mechanical, cleaning, and finishing tasks while learning the full repair process from the ground up. This position is ideal for someone who wants to build a long‑term career in skilled trades, with clear pathways to advance into welding, mechanical work, painting, winding, quality control, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Support skilled technicians in the service and repair of motors and generators used in oil and gas operations and data centers.
  • Assist with operating ovens and washing stations as part of the cleaning and preparation process for equipment and components.
  • Perform sandblasting and painting tasks under supervision to prepare and finish parts to required standards.
  • Help with winding activities by supporting experienced winders and learning the winding process over time.
  • Clean parts, tools, and work areas to maintain an organized and efficient workspace.
  • Assist with the disassembly and reassembly of motors and generators, following instructions and safety procedures.
  • Handle materials and components safely and efficiently, including moving parts between workstations as needed.
  • Start with basic tasks such as grabbing parts and organizing materials while learning the processes and workflow of the plant.
  • Gradually take on more complex mechanical and technical tasks as skills and knowledge develop.
  • Use hand and power tools correctly and safely to support repair and maintenance activities.
  • Communicate clearly with technicians and team members to understand instructions and provide status updates.
  • Accept feedback from supervisors and peers and apply it to improve performance and technical skills.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures while working in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Contribute to maintaining a somewhat clean but organized shop environment despite older equipment.
  • Support production needs by being available for some Saturday work during busy periods.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to work confidently with hand and power tools in a production environment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in mechanical work.
  • Strong communication skills to follow instructions and work effectively with technicians and team members.
  • Willingness to take feedback, learn new processes, and continuously improve.
  • Capability to perform material handling tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a non‑climate‑controlled manufacturing plant for the full shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing environments involving mechanical, automotive, or industrial work.
  • Exposure to operating forklifts or overhead cranes is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with sandblasting, painting, or winding processes is a plus.
  • Experience in automotive or mechanic work that demonstrates strong mechanical skills.
  • Interest in progressing into skilled trades such as welding, mechanical repair, painting, winding, or quality control.
  • Comfort working with older equipment while maintaining an organized work area.

Why Work Here?

You will join a stable, growing operation with a strong track record of promoting from within and developing employees into skilled trades professionals. The team offers clear growth paths, demonstrated by leaders who began in entry‑level roles and advanced through welding, mechanical work, engineering, and quality. The organization is expanding significantly, driven by a strong backlog of data center service and repair projects, providing long‑term job stability and opportunity. You will start on a contract‑to‑hire basis with the opportunity to convert to a direct role based on attendance and performance, at which point you become eligible for paid time off and additional company benefits.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment that is not climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. The operation runs from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays of approximately five hours during busy periods. The plant has about 38 team members across two buildings and uses older equipment that is somewhat clean but organized. You will work around ovens, washing stations, sandblasting equipment, painting areas, and various mechanical workstations, using hand and power tools, and potentially supporting forklift or overhead crane operations as needed. The environment is hands‑on, industrial, and focused on safety, productivity, and continuous learning.
