Job Description

The Heavy Assembler I works as part of a small team to build large industrial radiators and radiator components used in warehouses, production facilities, and data centers. This role involves hands-on mechanical assembly using hand and power tools, operating overhead cranes and lifts, and performing leak testing to ensure product quality. You will work in multiple assembly areas and contribute directly to the production of high-quality, heavy-duty radiators.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble various parts and full industrial radiators in teams of 1–3, following work instructions and production requirements.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to secure components and complete mechanical assemblies on large radiators, some as large as a semi trailer.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and other technical documentation to ensure accurate assembly of radiator components.
  • Operate overhead cranes to safely lift, move, and position heavy parts and assemblies throughout the production area.
  • Use ladders and scissor lifts to access the top and elevated areas of large radiators during assembly.
  • Perform leak tests on completed radiators and assemblies to verify quality and identify any issues that require correction.
  • Measure components accurately using a tape measure to confirm dimensions and tolerances during assembly.
  • Work within one of seven assembly areas that focus on building either radiator parts or complete radiators, adapting to different tasks as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with heavy equipment, tools, and elevated platforms.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area within the assembly and fabrication shop.
  • Communicate effectively with the Assembly Supervisor and team members regarding production status, issues, and improvements.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience using power tools for assembly or fabrication work.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints for mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Ability to operate an overhead crane safely to move and position heavy components.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for precise measurements.
  • Demonstrated work tenure of at least 18 consecutive months with one employer within the past 5 years.
  • Comfort working at heights using ladders and scissor lifts to access elevated areas of large assemblies.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate assembly and successful leak testing.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures in an industrial assembly environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a mechanical assembler in an assembly or fabrication shop environment.
  • Familiarity with building or assembling large industrial equipment or heavy components.
  • Experience working from blueprints or technical drawings in a production setting.
  • Comfort working with overhead lifting equipment and large-scale assemblies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team of 1–3 people and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Willingness to adapt to different assembly areas and tasks as production needs change.
  • Interest in supporting products used in warehouses, production facilities, and data centers.

Why Work Here?

The company offers a clear and structured path for pay increases, including an immediate raise upon hire-in, another increase at six months, and additional raise opportunities at the one- and two-year marks. You will join a stable operation with a growing focus on radiators for data centers, providing long-term business prospects and opportunities to work on high-demand products. The environment supports skill development in mechanical assembly, overhead crane operation, and blueprint reading, allowing you to build valuable experience in industrial manufacturing.

Work Environment

This role is based in an assembly and fabrication shop focused on building industrial radiators for warehouses, production facilities, and data centers. The facility is clean and organized, with defined assembly areas dedicated to either component assembly or full radiator builds. The work schedule is 1st shift, Monday through Friday, from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The environment is not temperature controlled and can become hot during the summer months, so candidates should be comfortable working in varying temperatures. You will regularly use hand and power tools, overhead cranes, ladders, and scissor lifts, and you will report to an Assembly Supervisor while collaborating closely with a small team in a production-focused setting.
