Position: HVAC Design Engineer
Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (DOE)

As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a technically strong HVAC Design Engineer to support system design, coordination, and project development across a variety of high-impact projects.
Position Overview
The HVAC Design Engineer will be responsible for designing and developing HVAC systems from concept through construction. This role will work closely with project managers, field teams, and clients to ensure systems are efficient, constructible, and aligned with project goals.

Key Responsibilities
• Design HVAC systems including air distribution, hydronic systems, and equipment layouts
• Perform load calculations, equipment sizing, and system selection
• Develop construction documents including drawings, schematics, and system layouts
• Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and architectural teams
• Support preconstruction efforts including budgeting and system concepts
• Review project specifications and ensure design compliance
• Collaborate with field teams to ensure constructability and proper system installation
• Support RFIs, submittals, and design revisions throughout the project lifecycle
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in HVAC design or mechanical engineering
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, and system design
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents and specifications
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
• Proficiency with design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar
Preferred Skills
• Experience in commercial, life sciences, or mission-critical projects
• Familiarity with design-build project delivery
• Understanding of energy-efficient system design and California codes
• Exposure to controls or building automation systems
• EIT or PE certification a plus
Physical & Work Environment Expectations
• Ability to work in both office and project environments
• Occasional site visits within the Bay Area
• Collaboration with engineering, project management, and field teams
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
