About the Role

The Hearing Aid Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional patient care through hearing evaluations, product recommendations, and personalized fittings. This role combines clinical testing with consultative sales, guiding patients through their hearing journey with clarity and compassion. Responsibilities include conducting hearing assessments, presenting treatment options, educating patients on technology, and ensuring ongoing support through follow‑up care and adjustments.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive hearing evaluations using audiometric testing to determine patient hearing needs.
  • Recommend appropriate hearing aid technology based on test results, lifestyle, and budget.
  • Perform hearing aid fittings and adjustments, ensuring comfort, clarity, and optimal performance.
  • Educate patients on hearing loss, device features, care, and maintenance.
  • Provide ongoing follow‑up care, including cleanings, repairs, reprogramming, and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver consultative sales by guiding patients through treatment options with professionalism and empathy.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and follow clinical protocols and state regulations.
  • Build long‑term patient relationships through exceptional service and communication.
  • Collaborate with clinic staff to support scheduling, patient flow, and overall clinic success.



Qualifications

Active state license as a Hearing Aid Specialist (or eligibility to obtain one).

High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus, but not a requirement.

Strong sales and consultative communication skills with the ability to present solutions clearly.

Experience in retail sales, medical device sales, optical, or patient‑care roles preferred.

Ability to perform hearing evaluations, interpret results, and recommend appropriate technology.

Comfortable with technology, including hearing aid software, office systems, and basic troubleshooting.

Excellent customer service skills with a patient‑focused, compassionate approach.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage follow‑ups, appointments, and documentation.

Willingness to complete required continuing education and stay current with hearing aid technology.

Professional, reliable, and able to work independently within a clinic environment.


Required Skills

  • Audiometric testing skills (air/bone conduction, speech testing).
  • Consultative sales ability with a focus on needs‑based recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining hearing loss and treatment options clearly.
  • Technical proficiency with hearing aid software, programming tools, and device troubleshooting.
  • Customer service excellence with a patient‑first mindset.
  • Problem‑solving skills to diagnose hearing aid issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Attention to detail for accurate documentation, testing, and follow‑up care.

Preferred Skills

Experience with hearing aid manufacturers’ software.

Background in medical device sales, optical sales, or other consultative healthcare sales.

Familiarity with NOAH and other industry‑standard fitting platforms.

Strong presentation skills for explaining technology and treatment plans.

Experience working in a clinic or retail healthcare environment.

Ability to build long‑term patient relationships and deliver empathetic care.

Strong teamwork skills for collaborating with front office and clinic staff.


Pay range and compensation package

Commission Structure: Typically based on hearing aid sales, technology level, and patient retention
