This is not a generic support role — this sits between EHR security, access governance, and hands-on user support.
Who this role is for
• You’ve managed Cerner Millennium access, roles, or security groups
• You understand how clinical users map to permissions
• You’ve handled provisioning, deprovisioning, or access audits in a healthcare system
• You can troubleshoot real user access issues, not just route tickets
Role Snapshot
• Environment: Public sector healthcare (State of Virginia – Department of Health)
• Focus: EHR security + access control + Tier 1 user support
• System: Cerner / Oracle Health (Millennium)
What this role actually owns day-to-day
• Manage EHR access roles, positions, and security groups
• Handle user provisioning / offboarding workflows
• Support end users with login, access, and permission issues
• Monitor user activity and flag access anomalies or risks
• Work with security + compliance teams on HIPAA-aligned access controls
Key Responsibilities
• Map and maintain Cerner Millennium positions, preferences, and OHPAC security groups
• Assign and adjust user access based on job function and clinical roles
• Troubleshoot access issues, login failures, permission conflicts
• Support and refine user provisioning + deprovisioning workflows
• Run and support internal EHR access audits
• Partner with security officer, ISO team, and compliance on policy enforcement
• Investigate EHR-related security incidents and access violations
• Monitor user behavior using tools like P2Sentinel
• Support Cerner upgrades, patches, and security updates
• Assist with downtime procedures and security documentation
Must-Have Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
• Hands-on experience with Cerner / Oracle Health EHR security
• Experience managing roles, access controls, or security groups in EHR
• Strong understanding of user provisioning, access governance, or IAM within healthcare
• Experience with Active Directory, SSO, MFA
• Ability to troubleshoot EHR access issues directly with users
• Familiarity with HIPAA / healthcare security environments
• Prior application support experience in a production environment
