Head Sommelier | Fine Dining Destination – Northern Virginia

$80,000–$100,000 + Bonus + Benefits

A highly regarded, chef-driven fine dining restaurant in Northern Virginia is seeking a Head Sommelier to lead its wine program and elevate the guest experience through thoughtful curation and polished service.

This is a key leadership role within a refined, tasting menu–driven environment, ideal for a sommelier who brings both technical expertise and a natural sense of hospitality to the floor. The right candidate is passionate, service-focused, and looking for a long-term opportunity with growth potential.

The Opportunity:

  • Lead and evolve a curated wine program with $40–50K in inventory
  • Oversee and develop a team of 2 Assistant Sommeliers
  • Collaborate with culinary leadership on tasting menu pairings
  • Drive wine education, service standards, and overall beverage experience
  • Be a visible presence on the floor, delivering exceptional, guest-forward tableside service

Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or Level 3 Sommelier Certification required
  • Strong background in fine dining (tasting menu experience highly preferred)
  • Polished, engaging service style with a natural ability to connect with guests
  • Passion for wine, storytelling, and creating memorable experiences
  • Motivated, dependable, and interested in building something long-term

Compensation & Perks:

  • $80K–$90K base salary
  • Performance-based bonus (eligible after 6 months)
