Wells Fargo is hiring a Head of Trading Systems Technology, Engineering Manager Specialty, in our Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology Space specifically in Capital Markets. 

This position will lead the Trading Systems Technology team, responsible for support, development, and enhancement of systems that support Fixed Income and Equity Trading Business. Set the strategic direction for trading systems support. Works with trading systems vendors to resolve issues, implement projects, and ensure that our trading systems meet the needs of our investment teams.  Works closely with trading operations, settlements, and investment teams to streamline processes and ensure that our trading systems are operational, resilient, and meet the strategic needs of the firm’s investment strategies.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Partners with trading, operations, settlements business groups to plan and prioritize trading systems solutions to be implemented by the team
  • Coordinates development and planning activities of the trading systems team in accord with established business priorities and delivers solutions in a timely manner
  • Communicates and collaborates with settlements, operations, and trading teams to ensure an open dialog and mutual success
  • Manages frontline trading technology support team which provides timely resolution to pressing trading technology issues
  • Manage On-Call support to which provides escalated Tier-3 support for more complex trading issues
  • Develops and Mentors technology staff, providing growth opportunities for team members with the desire and potential to take on more responsibility
  • Coordinates assistance as needed to platform support team to ensure that overnight batch runs in a timely and accurate manner and provides accurate data to downstream trading systems
  • Partners with peer groups to analyze, coordinate, and implement future transition of Trading systems to Allspring Global Investors target environment
  • Manages upgrades of key trading systems to ensure the latest functionality and security
  • Drive for results, conveying a sense of urgency and bringing issues to closure despite obstacles and opposition

  • Demonstrate sound decision making which reflects an understanding of the firm’s business and its priorities.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technology engineering experience
  • 4+ years of leadership and people management experience in a technology environment


Desired Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience with Agile practices
  • 5+ years of experience in an industry-standard programming language
  • 4+ years of Build and CICD technologies experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud technologies
  • 10+ years of leadership or management experience
  • Experience with Asset Management within the Financial industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of Agile
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience developing and managing client relationships
  • 5+ years of business systems analysis or design experience
  • 5+ years of database experience
  • Ability to manage large scale program initiatives in a complex environment
  • Experience leading complex change initiatives
  • 10+ years of investment banking experience


Other Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of direct staff management 
  • 10+ years of Hedge Fund, or Quant Experience
  • 8+ years trading systems experience, including Bloomberg AIM and/or CRD
  • Solid project management skills and ability to lead/oversee medium and large-sized initiatives
  • Experience with vendor management and working with Financial Market Data providers
  • Experience leading and mentoring other business system analysts and/or software developers
  • Ability to handle heavy workloads while remaining focused in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with remote team members across the world and in different time zones
  • Solid understanding of investments, trading, asset management, and related concepts including derivatives, equity and fixed-income instruments and transactions


Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed
