Job Summary

The Head Stocker supports the daily stocking and merchandising operations of the store by coordinating product flow, maintaining department standards, and providing work direction to stocking associates. This role helps ensure shelves are fully stocked, inventory is rotated properly, and store presentation supports a positive customer experience while adhering to safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Work Direction

  • Provide daily work direction and guidance to stocking associates.
  • Support training of new hires and reinforce stocking standards and workflows.
  • Lead by example and promote productivity, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Serve as a point of contact for questions related to stocking priorities and procedures.

Stocking & Merchandising Operations

  • Ensure timely and accurate stocking of products throughout the store.
  • Maintain proper rotation, facing, and organization of merchandise.
  • Support execution of merchandising plans, resets, and planograms.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and promotional setup.

Inventory Handling & Backroom Organization

  • Assist with receiving, unloading, and staging deliveries.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe backroom and storage areas.
  • Identify and report inventory discrepancies, damages, or out‑of‑stocks.
  • Support inventory accuracy and proper product flow to the sales floor.

Customer Service

  • Provide friendly and professional customer assistance as needed.
  • Respond to customer questions and direct concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain store conditions that support a positive shopping experience.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper handling of equipment, pallet jacks, and stocking tools.
  • Promote a clean, organized, and hazard‑free work environment.
  • Support loss prevention and shrink reduction efforts.

Collaboration & Store Support

  • Partner with department and store leadership to support daily operations.
  • Assist with special projects, seasonal transitions, and store initiatives.
  • Provide coverage and support across departments as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of stocking, merchandising, and inventory practices.
  • Ability to lead by example and provide clear work direction.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced retail environment.
  • Basic proficiency with retail technology and handheld devices.
Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior retail stocking or lead experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
