Experience with Hardware engineering software (Altium Designer, Orcad, Cadence Allegro) and Electronics tools (soldering irons, magnifiers).
Why is this role needed?
This High-Speed Digital Hardware Engineer will support the development and testing of electrical subsystems and PCBAs for Laser Communications intended for space. The role will involve supporting and eventually leading the integration and test of builds composed of high-speed digital/analog and electro-optic circuitry, influencing digital architecture, and performing electrical design and analysis for future generations of Laser Communications systems.
A successful candidate will be experienced in the areas of high-speed digital design for high-reliability environments, as well as test and debug of complex electrical subsystems.
Responsibilities:
Support and lead integration and test of builds for spaceflight electrical subsystems supporting Laser Communications
Debug of electrical issues for first-of-its-kind hardware, in tandem with an experienced team of HDL, firmware, mechanical, and optical engineers
Write integration and test procedures
Support future architectures and high-speed digital hardware design work
Required Skills:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
5+ years of experience as an electrical engineer responsible for design and test of complex mixed-signal hardware, with specific experience as follows:
5+ years of experience with the part selection, schematic capture, layout, and test of complex mixed-signal boards targeting SoCs or FPGAs with all relevant clocking, power, and high-rate interfaces
5+ years of experience working on cross-disciplinary teams with Mechanical and RF engineers
5+ years of experience with typical lab equipment including high-speed oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
3+ years of experience with one or more scripting/embedded programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or Bash
1+ years of experience working in desktop and embedded Linux
Preferred Skills:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or similar
Experience designing and testing high-fidelity hardware for space
Experience with high-reliability design for aerospace and military applications
Understanding of RF or optical communication systems and digital signal processing, and ability to translate these to hardware requirements for sampling data converters, data processing, and circuit performance
Experience with AMD FPGAs, MPSoCs, or ACAPs, with an emphasis on Versal
Experience with board-level design and test of modern SERDES
Experience with board-level design and test of modern RF ADCs and DACs
Experience with board-level design and test of modern DDR memory
