Summary

The primary function of this role is a generalist Electrical Engineer supporting smart glasses case hardware development. Day-to-day work includes reviewing designs and schematics, evaluating PCB layouts, performing validation testing, and conducting failure analysis. The primary focus is hands-on lab work, executing detailed electrical measurements, troubleshooting, and system-level analysis to ensure hardware meets performance, reliability, and safety expectations. Key focus areas include power, battery, charging, and system-level measurements. The ideal candidate has strong EE fundamentals, hands-on lab skills, and experience in consumer electronics or wearables.

Job Responsibilities:

Own validation efforts for smart glasses case systems, including defining test plans, coverage, and pass/fail criteria.

Perform system-level electrical measurements and analysis across power rails, regulators, batteries, charging paths, and load behavior.

Execute lab debugging and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, power meters, DMMs, logic analyzers, and similar instrumentation.

Conduct failure analysis of electrical issues including component failures, battery degradation, charging anomalies, and system-level faults.

Review and evaluate PCB layouts, schematics, and designs — flag errors and suggest improvements.

Review and approve product prototypes, working models, or simulation-based models.

Write detailed functional specifications, test procedures, and design tradeoff documentation.

Support new technology introduction and NPI/manufacturing validation efforts.

Direct technicians, engineering designers, or other technical support personnel as needed.

Ensure compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards (e.g., EMC) and support certification activities.

Candidates will be evaluated based on deliverables in hardware validation, prototype builds, documentation quality, and cross-functional communication.

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer with hands-on lab validation and debugging experience.

Proficiency with lab instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power meters, multimeters, electronic loads, etc.).

Demonstrated strength in system-level electrical analysis and troubleshooting (power integrity, transient response, noise, efficiency, stability).

Experience with high-density rigid/flex board design and system integration.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving issues to root cause.

Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Experience in consumer electronics, wearables, or similar highly integrated systems.

Familiarity with automated test systems and scripting (Python, LabVIEW, or similar).

Working knowledge of regulatory and safety considerations (EMC, safety, etc.).

Embedded software basics — comfortable reviewing software logs and code.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing or maintaining validation methodologies for battery-powered wearable systems.

Experience creating automated characterization setups (power profiling, regression tests, long-run stability testing).

Experience supporting NPI/manufacturing validation and bridging lab results to production test strategies.

Experience with SoC bring-up, sensor integration, or wireless/audio/display subsystems.

Skills:

Good EE fundamentals.

High-density rigid/flex board design and system integration experience.

Hands-on lab skills. Rapid prototyping with what's available. Can-do attitude.

Ability to drive projects with high ambiguity, multiple paths, and fuzzy future to clarity.

Understanding of core tech areas such as SoC, sensor, wireless, audio, display, and interfaces (USB, MIPI, PCIe, SPI, I2C). Capable of designing, bringing up, and evaluating projects in those areas.

Embedded software basics. Comfortable looking into software logs/code.

Use automation to help the team improve project quality and scale to more projects.

Strong leadership and mentoring capability, with the ability to influence without authority.
