The Oregon Zoo is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join the Guest Services teamduringour Summer season. As a Guest Service Worker,you’llhave the opportunity to engage in a variety of responsibilities that may include welcoming guests,sellingand scanning tickets,operatingthe zoo carousel,assistingwith zoo train operations, supportingspecial night including brew festivals and more.

As a Guest Services Worker, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and supporting the daily operations of various guest-facing areas throughout the zoo. You will serve as a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional representative, ensuring each guest receives a warm welcome and outstanding service. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable, and committed to creating a welcoming environment for all zoo visitors. This position requires availability for a variety of shifts and will be working mostly daytime shifts with some special events dates running as late as 11:30pm. We are currently looking for applicants who can commit to working20hoursandat leastfourdays per week, witheveningand weekend availability.


As a Guest Services Worker you will:

  • Provide outstanding customer service while interacting with guests and staff in a courteous, positive, and engaging manner.
  • Serve at various stations across the zoo, including admissions, public and private events, special exhibits, and popular attractions such as the carousel and train.
  • Communicate confidently and clearly, including making announcements and providing group instructions as needed.
  • Maintaina high levelof energy and enthusiasm to ensure all guests feel acknowledged, supported, and informed throughout their visit.
  • Operate ticket scanning devices, point-of-sale (POS) cash registers, credit card terminals, and other related equipment with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Sell and validate zoo tickets and services in a timely and professional manner.
  • Welcome and orient school groups, tours, and large parties by providing clear expectations and logistical guidance.
  • Answer guest inquiriesregardingticketing, zoo exhibits, events, amenities, and rules with professionalism and clarity.
  • Assistwith end-of-day procedures, including shutting down equipment, cleaning work areas, and reporting any operational needs to the lead or manager.

TO QUALIFY

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma,GEDor sufficient education todemonstratethe ability to read instructions and to perform routine math calculations with accuracy; and
  • One year of experience providing customer service in a public setting; and
  • One year of paid experience processing transactions in a customer service setting (e.g., point-of-sale or ticketing systems); or
  • We will consider any combination of education and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.


Shifts and schedule:

Asa member of the Guest Services staff,you'llneed to be flexible with your availability, as shifts will include nights, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Your schedule will vary based on operational needs, weather conditions, andspecial eventsat the zoo.

This is a seasonal positionthatwill starton March 23, 2026andconclude onSeptember 13, 2026.

Summer seasonstaffcan expecta minimum of 20hours of scheduled shiftsperweekwith scheduled events and hours of operation outlined here:

  • 2026 daytime operations shifts are typically
  • 9a.m. –5 p.m. through May 23, 2026
  • 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. through September Labor Day 2026
  • 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. through October 31, 2026
  • Special evening event shiftstypically start at4and may goas late as 11 p.m. Evening dates (to be confirmed) include:
  • June 3, July 1, August 5
  • June 5 + 6
  • 10 Fridays starting June 19
  • Friday August 22 & Saturday August 23
  • September 11 + 12
