Groundskeeper (Full-Time) - Bethel University

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of the Physical Plant, the Groundskeeper is a full-time role responsible for the aesthetics, safety, and day-to-day care of Bethel University's campus grounds. This position supports a clean, attractive, and hazard-free environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests through routine landscaping, grounds maintenance, and seasonal operations.


Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Planting, pruning, and watering of shrubs, trees, flowers, etc., on campus grounds.
  • Leaf removal in and around structures and grounds.
  • Mowing and trimming turf areas on campus grounds and athletic fields.
  • Maintain grounds equipment as needed.
  • Help with landscape construction projects.
  • Trash and debris pick-up and disposal
  • Snow and ice removal on sidewalks, steps, roads, etc.

Equipment Used:

All grounds equipment, including: snow removal equipment, mowers, blowers, tractors, bobcat, chainsaw, shovel, rake, trucks, Gator, etc.

Must have a valid driver's license.


Working Environment:

Work takes place outdoors, possibly in inclement weather or uncomfortable surroundings. A love for the great outdoors is a must!


Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
  • Grounds, landscaping, irrigation, and mechanical skills preferred
  • Must be able and willing to operate within a team of coworkers and function as part of a group, including both staff members and student workers.
  • Self-motivated, good time manager, and have effective communication skills
  • Adherence to the Bethel University Covenant of Lifestyle
