GROUNDSKEEPER

Starting Wage: $17.23 per hour


Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform general landscaping and grounds maintenance work, including mowing and applying mulch
  • Assist in the application of fertilizer, herbicide/pesticide treatments
  • Trim and prune plants at heights above ground level
  • Perform maintenance, including patching and repairing to University sidewalks, streets and parking lots
  • Assist with event support
  • Perform snow and ice removal
  • Operate and maintain lawn tractors, chain saws, and other lawn equipment
  • Provide leadership to student and temporary workers
  • Assist other trades or classifications when necessary
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrable work history reflecting reliability and dependability
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to work in inclement weather, including emergencies and snow removal, and live within 30 minutes travel time from the University
  • Demonstrable knowledge in grounds maintenance
  • Ability to use and experience with standard landscaping and grounds maintenance tools, machines, and equipment
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions in an institutional setting
  • Ability to perform heavy work and lift up to 50 pounds and to work at heights up to 60 ft. that exist on campus with or without accommodations
  • Ability to stoop, bend, stretch, reach, kneel, sit, or climb frequently and for extended periods of time while performing job duties
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
