Position Summary

The Development & Communications Manager plays a central role in advancing FACES’ fundraising and external communications efforts, including grant writing and reporting, donor communications, campaigns, and organizational storytelling. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and project manager who works closely with the Senior Director, Development and Communications, program leaders, and external partners to deliver clear, compelling, and mission-aligned communications.


What You’ll Do

Development & Grants (60%)
  • Manage a portfolio of foundation and corporate grants, including: researching prospects, writing proposals and LOIs, and preparing reports and stewardship materials
  • Maintain an annual grants calendar and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with program, finance, and evaluation staff to gather data and narratives
  • Support individual giving efforts, including: annual fund and end-of-year campaigns, Giving Tuesday and matching gift campaigns, and donor acknowledgments and stewardship communications
  • Assist with donor tracking and reporting in the CRM (e.g., Salesforce, Classy)
Communications & Storytelling (30%)
  • Create donor and community-facing communications, including: social media posts, annual report and impact materials, and program one-pagers and other community education materials
  • Partner with program staff to elevate family and educator stories
  • Support website content updates related to fundraising and impact
  • Ensure messaging is equity-centered, strengths-based, and accessible
Collaboration & Operations (10%)
  • Coordinate with leadership and program teams to align messaging and fundraising priorities
  • Support board fundraising and communications efforts as needed
  • Manage external vendors (designers, printers, photographers) as applicable
  • Contribute to departmental planning, metrics, and process improvement

Qualifications

You have a solid mix of the following experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities: 

  • 5+ years of grant writing and/or public funding management experience, especially with historically marginalized families and communities; local Bay Area experience is a plus!
  • Strong written, analytical, and verbal communication skills.
  • Track record of working effectively with program leaders to coordinate and successfully deliver grant projects. 
  • Strong knowledge base around program budgeting and operations data management.
  • Demonstrated project management skills. Ability to take initiative, establish priorities, work independently, and make progress on a variety of projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with CRMs, collaboration, research and project management tools required.
  • A deep commitment to aligning all fundraising practices to our values, especially around equity, inclusion, and belonging for all our stakeholders.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary between $85,000-$95,000 based on experience
