bergenPAC is seeking a skilled and motivated Grant Writer to support the organization’s fundraising and institutional advancement efforts. The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, researching, writing, and managing grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
This position plays a key role in securing funding to support bergenPAC’s programming, education initiatives, community engagement efforts, and capital needs.
The Grant Writer will work closely with the Executive Director, development team, and program leadership to translate bergenPAC’s artistic and educational work into compelling funding proposals.Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Prospect Identification
• Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
• Maintain a pipeline of prospective institutional funders
• Track deadlines and eligibility requirements for funding opportunities
Proposal Development
• Write compelling grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and funding applications
• Prepare supporting materials including project descriptions, impact narratives, and program summaries
• Collaborate with program staff to gather information about organizational initiatives
Grant Management & Reporting
• Maintain a grant calendar to track submission deadlines and reporting requirements
• Ensure timely submission of grant reports and compliance documentation
• Track grant outcomes and funding results
Institutional Relationships
• Support communication with foundation and government funders
• Assist with scheduling and preparing for funder meetings and site visits
• Maintain accurate records of funder interactions
Collaboration & Development Support
• Work closely with the development team to align grant funding with organizational priorities
• Assist with development communications and messaging when needed
• Contribute to institutional fundraising strategy
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, arts administration, or a related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of grant writing or nonprofit fundraising experience
• Proven track record of securing funding from foundations or government agencies preferred
• Strong writing, research, and storytelling skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
• Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising practices
Experience working in arts, culture, education, or community-based nonprofits is highly desirable.

Work Structure
This position may be structured as:
• Full-time staff role
