Graduate Support Program Director (Middle School)

Serviam Girls Academy (SGA) of Wilmington, Delaware, is an independent, faith-based, tuition-free middle school that educates girls in grades 5-8 from under-resourced families. Serviam is committed to promoting economic mobility through education. It offers an extended day and year model, partnerships with families and community members, and support for students beyond graduation.  

Position Type: Full-time, in-person, 12-month exempt position

Job Summary: The Graduate Support Program provides comprehensive educational and career support for its current students and graduates as they pursue their educational, career, and personal goals. 

The Director maintains effective and efficient program operations by working with both middle school students and graduates to reach essential educational milestones, supporting them throughout their matriculation, and serving as a resource for graduates as they seek fulfilling educational and work opportunities beyond high school. 

The Graduate Support Program Director will advise and collaborate with the President, Principal, and Graduate Support Program Committee on school-wide and community-wide issues, engage in strategic goal setting, and implement program policies and practices. As the leader of the Graduate Support Program, the Director will facilitate Serviam’s partnership with LYTE (Leading Youth Through Empowerment) to create and support a comprehensive program for our middle school students, including guidance for 7th and 8th-grade students and families through the high school search, application, placement, and financial aid processes. 

The Director will oversee and lead a coordinated approach to delivering services and assisting students with secondary, post-secondary, and career exploration, goal setting, planning, and follow-through. They will monitor students' progress; meet individually and in groups with students on a regular basis to provide information and assistance supporting alumnae's social, emotional, and educational needs. 

In the 2026-2027 school year, the Graduate Support Program will support approximately 22 Seventh- and Eighth-Grade students, 43 high school students, and 120+ post-high school students (and growing) in their quest for academic, socio-emotional, vocational, and personal success. 

Refine, Coordinate, and Facilitate Serviam’s Graduate Support Program

• Create a college-bound culture throughout Serviam and familiarize students and alumnae with a range of high school and postsecondary education and internship options.
• Provide information and guidance to students and their families on local high schools and the admissions process. 
• Maintain infrastructure for tracking alumnae data and successes through surveys and other channels.
• Maintain a database of opportunities and resources, such as scholarship programs and internships, that is shared regularly among alumnae
• Work with the Board of Directors’ GSP Committee to evaluate the program's needs and effectiveness, including metrics for measuring outcomes.
• Communicate information regarding graduates to the Development Office for use in reports, grants, and newsletters.
• Work cooperatively with the President, Principal and the Development office in the creation of the annual graduate support program budget.
• Other duties as assigned.

Manage the Serviam/LYTE (Leading Youth Through Empowerment) partnership and its execution of Serviam’s high school preparation and admissions program to:

• Assist 8th-grade students and their families with the high school admissions and financial aid applications as needed.
• Monitor and work closely with LYTE to prepare students for the high school entrance exams, application process, and skill development for a successful transition to high school.
• Teach test-taking and social-emotional classes for 7th and 8th-grade students
• Coordinate all graduation activities, including the 8th-grade trip, dinner, ceremony, and awards. 

SGA Alumnae Support

• Conduct a minimum of 3 visits with high school-aged alumnae during the school year in their respective high schools to provide support and resources as needed and track progress.  Provide additional support if needed.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local high school leadership, admissions teams, and guidance counselors for further collaboration.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute initiatives and events, including college-readiness and workforce-development activities for high school and post-high-school alumnae. 
• Coordinate social and volunteer opportunities for alumnae to remain involved with Serviam.
• Develop a mentorship program for SGA graduates. 

We expect the Director to hire and supervise a Graduate Support Associate within the next two years, if funding allows. 

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be available for occasional evening and weekend responsibilities
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for alumnae visits 
• Ability to work in the office
• Must be able to participate in meetings, training, and events that require prolonged sitting, standing, and occasional lifting of materials 

Qualifications

• Commitment to the mission of Serviam Girls Academy
• Can do attitude and willingness to work in a team
• Experience working with youth and young adults
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Education or a relevant field of study
• One year of teaching experience, counseling, workshop facilitation and/or work with students in an urban environment
• FBI Fingerprinting/Background Clearance REQUIRED prior to hiring
• High level of personal organization and time management skills
• High level of proficiency with computers 
• Knowledge of and skill with technology and Google Workspace
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively with parents, students, and diverse stakeholders
• Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable, but not mandatory
