The Graduate Pathologist Assistant provides technical support in anatomical pathology, performing specialized clinical laboratory procedures and gross dissection duties under the direction of an attending physician. Supports specimen management, resident training, research activities, and quality assurance within the pathology service.

Position Summary:
Provides technical assistance in the areas of anatomical pathology through application and instruction under the direction of a primary care physician.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Responsible for clinical laboratory procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a physician.
2. Monitors the specimens as they arrive in the gross room and assigns the dissection of the specimens to the residents according to their level of expertise and their workload.
3. Performs routine gross dissection as necessary in consultation with the attending physician.
4. Aids in the selection of tissue for research and route them to the appropriate laboratory.
5. Conducts new employee orientation and training in autopsy techniques.
6. Preparation quarterly quality assurance reports, monthly workload summary repots, and month autopsy service call schedules.
7. Other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification as a Pathologist Assistant must be obtained within one year of employment.
Minimum Education:
Master’s degree in Pathologist Assistant Studies.

Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
