Duties and Responsibilities - Under the direction of the CSS Digital Studios Director, assists in the development and implementation of research, evaluation, and assessment functions for the College’s Digital Studios.
- The Graduate Assistant (GA) will be responsible for assisting with the operation and management of the CSS Digital Studios, related operations in the College of Social Sciences, to include operating equipment and monitoring and assisting users of the facility and student employee staff in a supervisory role.
- Assist Director of Digital Studios in developing training and curriculum materials for academic purposes. This will include materials for the acquisition and installation of new equipment and software for the expansion of the Digital Studios facilities at the Sinclair Student Success Center.
- Assist Digital Studios Director with project management and/or event planning.
- GA will assist Digital Studios Director with development of an annual summer program which would focus on interactive activities; such as crisis communications training and/or potential student or community academic workshops.
- GA will work on development of an instructional manual for the studio facility and the equipment therein.
- Must be available summer, evenings and weekend, when necessary.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications- Enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, in a graduate degree program at the time of hire and throughout the appointment period, be in good academic standing and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 or above;
- Strong organizational, writing, communication, and instructional skills;
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively, establish and maintain effective working relations with the Director of Digital Studios and students;
- Knowledge of professional video and audio equipment and software, including but not limited to cameras, microphones, video monitors, streaming equipment, digital production accessories, engineering equipment, and/or associated lighting and grip equipment;
- Knowledge of video production software and specifications including but not limited to, video editing, audio editing, graphic creation, animation, video streaming, computer systems, remote video production equipment in multiple formats, and as required;
- Knowledge of specifications for professional video and audio delivery including but not limited to, codecs, formats, aspect ratios, audio range limitations, data rates;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- Knowledge of Google Workspace including Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Drive, Slides, Forms, Sites;
- Knowledge of Adobe Cloud including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Audition, InDesign;
- Ability to work both independently and reliably within a team;
- Ability to meet deadlines specified by Digital Studios Director.
Desirable Qualifications- Prior work experience on a University of Hawaii campus.
- Demonstrated experience in working with other students and staff on projects and events.
- Willingness to learn new technology practices and adapt to new environments.
- Knowledge of University of Hawaii System, including its academic policies.
- Ability to travel independently to various geographical locations in a timely manner. This requirement may be fulfilled by possession of a valid State of Hawaii Driver’s License (Class 3), valid comparable driver’s license, or use of other means of transportation, which meets the position's needs.
- Experience with digital signage messaging and software applications.
- Demonstrated successful completion of goal oriented projects within deadline and specifications.
- Working knowledge and practice of graphic and web design, photography, and social media theory and specifications.
- Excellent writing, communications, project management and instructional skills.
- Ability to: work with others; follow instructions and carry out projects with little or no supervision; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; manage competing priorities and deadlines; attend college events and work irregular hours.
- Demonstrated ability of being highly motivated.
- Possesses good judgment skills and initiative.
