General Description

The Contracts & Compliance Specialist supports the full lifecycle of government and commercial contracts while ensuring adherence to applicable regulations, including FAR, DFARS, and export control laws. This role is critical in mitigating risk and ensuring contractual and regulatory compliance within a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment.


Essential Functions

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including NDAs, subcontracts, and teaming agreements
  • Manage contracts throughout the full lifecycle (proposal through closeout; “cradle-to-grave”)
  • Interpret contract terms and conditions and provide guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Support proposal development and ensure pricing compliance

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, ITAR, and other applicable government regulations
  • Monitor contract performance and proactively identify compliance risks
  • Maintain accurate documentation for audits (e.g., DCAA and internal audits)
  • Support export control and data protection requirements

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with operations, finance, procurement, and sales teams
  • Interface with U.S. government agencies, suppliers, representatives, and customers
  • Provide guidance on contractual risk and compliance strategy

Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Track contract status, deliverables, and compliance metrics
  • Develop and enhance contract lifecycle management processes
  • Support internal training initiatives on compliance requirements


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Supply Chain, or a related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in government contracting


Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS and foundational contract law principles
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ITAR and export compliance
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Experience with ERP and/or contract management systems
  • CPCM (Certified Professional Contracts Manager) certification
