Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a talented mid-to-senior level Professional Geologist for our client, a highly respected environmental, geological, and emergency response services firm serving regulated industries throughout Pennsylvania and the broader Northeast region.


This is an outstanding opportunity for a Pennsylvania-licensed geologist seeking a meaningful technical role with strong client ownership, field responsibility, and long-term growth potential in one of the most active environmental service sectors in the region. The focus of this position is heavily tied to oil and gas sector spill response, remediation oversight, and environmental geological support, making it especially attractive for professionals with some upstream energy, Marcellus/Utica, or environmental incident response experience. Although, any individuals with related background seeking to gain more experience in this domain would be welcome.

Position Overview

The Professional Geologist serves as a lead technical contact for assigned clients and acts as the focal point for planning, coordinating, and executing environmental geological work across multiple projects. This individual will manage customer relationships directly while overseeing field investigations, remediation activities, subsurface assessments, and regulatory reporting.


A major emphasis of the role involves:

  • Oil & gas spill response support and remediation oversight
  • Site investigations tied to releases, contamination events, and corrective actions
  • Soil and groundwater sampling programs
  • Drilling, subsurface characterization, and geotechnical coordination
  • Preparation of technical reports and regulatory filings for Pennsylvania agencies


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage environmental geology projects for multiple clients simultaneously
  • Serve as primary geological liaison for oil & gas and industrial spill response accounts
  • Plan and execute subsurface investigations including drilling, sampling, and testing
  • Prepare clear, technically sound reports and regulatory submissions
  • Coordinate field work and mentor junior geological staff and technicians
  • Participate in emergency response rotation as part of the firm’s incident response team
  • Support remediation strategies for impacted soil and groundwater sites


Ideal Candidate Profile

We are seeking candidates who bring:

  • Pennsylvania Professional Geologist license (ASBOG certified required)
  • Minimum 2 to 5+ years of professional geology/environmental field experience
  • Strong experience in remediation, spill response, environmental investigations, or oil & gas support work
  • Experience with PADEP filings and environmental regulatory compliance
  • Strong technical writing and report sealing capability
  • OSHA HAZWOPER preferred (or willingness to obtain)


Location

The preferred location for the role would be northern Pennsylvania, though our client is also open to candidates located within broader commuting reach, including:

  • Scranton / Wilkes-Barre region
  • Binghamton, NY area (if PA licensure is in place)
  • Future satellite office flexibility may exist in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or State College later this year (if candidates were from this area)


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $70,000 – $110,000; though for the right individual anything of reason could be structured.
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours over 45/week
