Job Title: Superintendent
Job Description

The superintendent will oversee the onsite management of construction projects, ensuring effective and efficient construction through coordination with project personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontracted work. This role requires managing the schedule, job costs, and quality of work to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction in collaboration with the project manager and the VP of Construction Services.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the construction project, including schedules, cleanliness, safety, manpower, and trade work.
  • Manage field employees and trades to ensure work complies with client expectations, project schedule, and project specifications.
  • Plan ahead and schedule resources effectively.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of project scope before construction starts and maintain ongoing communication with the project team.
  • Interact professionally with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and city officials to ensure client expectations are consistently met.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications.
  • Self-perform general construction duties as needed, including demolition, framing, finish carpentry, trim work, and drywall.
  • Accurately read architectural plans and specifications.
  • Manage tools, materials, and equipment onsite; ensure their prompt return when not needed.
  • Identify faulty equipment and arrange for repair.
  • Supervise the punch list process and resolve issues quickly to finish projects strong.
  • Document changes to the scope of work and back charges, ensuring the project manager is informed.
  • Submit accurately coded receipts and delivery tickets promptly.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 4+ years of experience in commercial construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Proven track record managing ground-up commercial projects.
  • Experience coordinating subcontractors, vendors, and site logistics.
  • Proficiency in door installation, cabinetry, and commercial construction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in ProCore, BusyBusy, Microsoft Outlook, and Google Docs.

Work Environment

Work primarily on commercial construction sites with teams of 2-10 people, including subcontractors and employees. Projects are located in Iowa and surrounding states, focusing 80% on the financial sector, 15% on smaller medical facilities, and 5% on miscellaneous commercial work. The typical work schedule is Monday to Thursday, 7am-5:30pm, with occasional work on Friday mornings. Attire includes jeans, t-shirts or sweatshirts, and work boots (steel or composite toe not required). Basic hand tools needed include pouches, a hammer, tape measure, speed square, and torpedo level.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $44.00/hr.
