Job Title: Labor Foreman
Job Description

The Labor Foreman oversees labor and construction activities on site, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project expectations. This role leads by example in the field, supports direction from site leadership, and maintains high safety standards while coordinating and performing general labor tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the highest level of safety and strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Lead and support labor and construction activities on site, ensuring work meets quality and productivity expectations.
  • Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.
  • Take and follow direction from the Foreman and Superintendent, and help communicate instructions to crew members as needed.
  • Complete all assigned tasks safely and within the given time frames.
  • Take responsibility for the safety of fellow crew members by promoting safe work practices and identifying potential hazards.
  • Perform general labor duties such as lifting, moving, and handling materials as required for heavy construction work.
  • Work effectively as part of a team to support overall project goals and schedules.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned to support site operations and project needs.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in heavy construction preferred, with prior construction foreman experience.
  • Proficiency in general labor and construction tasks, including use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds regularly as part of daily duties.
  • Good judgment and sound decision-making skills in a construction environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to communicate with others to share information, instructions, and safety concerns effectively.
  • Capability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and be accustomed to exposure to the elements.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player and collaborate with crew members and site leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail in performing tasks and following instructions.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and safe work practices on construction sites.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experienced construction employees are strongly preferred.
  • Truck driving skills are a plus and may support site logistics.
  • Previous experience specifically as a labor foreman is preferred.
  • Ability to work swing/night shifts consistently.

Work Environment

This role operates on a night swing shift schedule from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays as needed. Work takes place primarily outdoors in a heavy construction environment, with exposure to all weather conditions and site elements. The position involves regular use of hand tools and power tools and requires frequent lifting, climbing, walking, stooping, balancing, and handling of materials throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $38.00/hr.
