The City of Riverside is accepting applications for the position ofGeneral Service Worker (Part-Time / Non-Benefited)to fill two (2) vacancies in theHomeless Outreach Division of the Housing and Human Services Department. The eligibility list established may be used to fill the current and/or upcoming vacancies within this classification for up to six (6) months.
This role requires someone who can maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the Access Center while also supporting kennel operations through basic tracking, oversight, and documentation. The ideal candidate should take pride in keeping kennel areas clean and sanitary, ensuring walkways and grounds remain free of trash and hazards, and identifying issues before they become larger problems. They should be comfortable around animals, able to track kennel assignments and guardian/pet information, and willing to document concerns such as warnings, violations, write-ups, or removals.
The General Service Worker will communicate professionally with staff and guests, treat individuals and their pets with dignity, and maintain clear boundaries when enforcing expectations. Overall, the ideal General Services Worker is proactive, reliable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and able to help maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment for both people and animals at the access center and in the kennel.
